Donna and Heather's Conference Blog

Hi Everyone,

It's been a very busy  and hot Fall so far - we recently attended the CSA/USA conference in San Diego and the Gluten-Free Allergy Expo in Texas.

First on our travel agenda was the CSA/USA San Diego Conference which took place from September 15 -18 in beautiful San Diego at the lovely Bahia Resort.  The conference setting was absolutely beautiful as it overlooked a bay and several of the meals were even served on the resort's own riverboat!  There were so many interesting speakers and at the same time, plenty of time was available for the attendees to visit the trade show.  We so enjoyed renewing friendships as well as making many new acquaintances with celiacs.  We especially look forward to spending time with newly diagnosed celiacs - it's such a wonderful opportunity to answer their questions and reinforce the importance of baking with nutritious flours.

Our next stop was Dallas which hosted the Gluten-Free Allergy Expo from October 1 -2 at the Westin Central Park.  We were really excited about attending the Dallas conference. The exhibit hall was huge with over 75 exhibitors and simply bustling with people of all ages.  We talked with everyone - from  parents whose young children had been recently diagnosed to newly diagnosed teens and senior citizens.  Our latest cookbooks, "The Gluten-Free Baking Book" and "125 Best Gluten-Free Bread Machine Recipes", garnered lots of interest and enquiries.

All in all, we had wonderful experiences and remember, if you find a conference or trade show for celiacs or those intolerant of gluten, do make the effort to attend.  You'll discover a wealth of information and you'll find that exhibitors (like us!) are  more than willing to share their expertise.

Hope to see you and meet you at the next conference!
